There is a first time for everything. Breaking down and understanding those first few times is usually complex because there is nothing to compare them with, becoming themselves the gauge from then on. They can catch us off guard, make us feel uncomfortable, or surprise us, but they almost always exceed our expectations.

Within our inexperience and what is possible, we could not have had a better first shot and a little taste of what is coming. We embarked on the island of Cozumel saturated with emotion and in very good company. S not or what we were fortunate to share the day and excitement among friends and fellow travelers, but also one of the most beautiful and treasured destinations in the region.

Due to Covid times, the reduced ferry schedule limited our time margin to travel the 65 km of bike path; so when arriving at the port, the sun was already in its full splendor. Knowing that I will never be able to control the weather conditions, I accepted and appreciated this challenge that he proposed to me at noon -mentally preparing myself to face and persevere under any discomfort or annoyance. However, the world had other plans for us. The trees pampered us with their shadows and the clouds pampered us with their intermittent relief from the heat. The sky favored us to such a degree that we waited until we found a roof in an abandoned restaurant to release the rain and freshen the air for the rest of the way. Coincidentally, the storm lasted the necessary time to bounce, rest the legs a little, and enjoy the experience and the place.

There is a section of the track that runs along the open sea and that can be very windy, being the easternmost point of the Mexican Caribbean and the country. This is where I understood the meaning of Cozumel, which means "Land of the swallows" in Maya. I felt that I was flying - free and light - as if the wind were scattering my feathers. I was euphorically turning back and forth, watching my companion swallows go. Each one had his own rhythm and without a doubt his own internal challenge, but at least in that section, everyone seemed to slide the asphalt with nature and peace.

After a year of living on the Riviera Maya, I know that the landscape consents to its inhabitants with all the privileges offered to us as home. I also know that not everything will be rosy on the trip - with turquoise beaches and perfect weather. Why life always finds its way to impart taught finance . Just a block before I got to the ferry, I took my first lay down. I listened reaching the corner é a motorcycle, I got the front brake, and vvuuuumm! My bike made a complete turn and I fell head-on on the ground. Interestingly, nothing happened to me at all. Not a cut on the palms, not a scrape on the knee. Zero. Lor which makes me feel like it was a test, or at least a reminder that not everything will always look wonderful. No matter what it was, the scare was lesson enough.

Since that dat, and throughout this small reflection, I felt extremely grateful for the Land of the Swallows, and swallows beautiful that the raffled to the accompanying in this first: Mariana, Arturo , Ale, Yeni, Ale P. and Ludwig! ( in order of the photo ).
